A little introduction! January 29, 2009

Filed under: Journey...not the band — Rachel @ 12:27 am

I would like to introduce one of my roommates at pre-ship training.  She wanted me to introduce her as beautiful, wonderful, smart, amazing, innocent, pure-hearted, faithful, young, Jina from South Korea!

Wow, I look pale and huge-headed.  She was the first one to welcome me to our room and also shares a bed with me. We’ve been forced to become really close, haha.  She will only be on the ship for 7 months and is going through her University, Handong. She is one of the kindest people I have ever met and has a contagious laugh.  She is single, gentleman! And 20 years old. There are some really amazing people here and she is just one of them! Here is a view from our hotel balcony….if only you could see how blue the water actually is…wow!

So that is all from here for now. I have found that sitting on the balcony with my legs propped up and my computer sitting up high…I can gain access to a wireless signal! Praise God for little miracles!! I am so a child of technology…it is kind of sad.  Of course I’m not trying to become otherwise.

PS. Something cool.  The first night we were here, we had a praise and worship service.  Wow. I became so overwhelmed.  I was finally sitting in that room with people from around the would going through pre-ship training.  All those years of waiting, frustration, prayer, discouragement, encouragement…it finally led me here.  Amazing.  God is so faithful! He always completes the works that He starts. So if you’re feeling discouraged at all today because of a period of waiting that you are in…don’t worry, God’s timing is always best. We serve such am amazing God.

BTW, enjoy all your freezing rain and snow, suckas!!!

Sincerely, a grateful girl who is sitting outside in her shorts, t-shirt, and flip flops and who went swimming yesterday. And whose legs just fell asleep from being in this position too long.

Love that you’re able to update from the balcony. ;) All your dedicated blog followers are glad you’re a child of technology. How else would we keep up with your journey??

i loved talking to you last night even if on old technology, the phone (at least on my end). I knew that God would put wonderful new friends in your life. Sharing a bed must bring back memories of your younger years with Hannah. I bet you felt right at home…haha

Mama I love and miss you. I wore flip flops too so what? Of course it was 50 degrees, but I still did it. I never thought Id say this but Im ready for warm weather. I mean if there is no snow then its just miserable. Stupid Atlanta…too far south for any winter fun

Glad you are having fun in the sun. It is ridiculous here! We still have no power from the storm that happened on Tuesday. We have been huddling around a small heater in the dark for the last couple of nights! They should make a reality show about us.
Peace, God is love.

I remember Cebu…I think that is where I first preached the gospel on a street corner. So far outside my comfort zone, but it turned out to not be so bad. :) You should be going aboard the ship soon, right? I can’t wait to read all about it. Reading your blog is bringing back all my memories.

One of the things I miss most, besides sailing and visiting new places, is the worship time – especially when we would sing songs which people knew in their own language. It always makes me think of Heaven when I hear many languages praising God together. There’s nothing quite like it!
