For all you random visitors who may not be on my newsletter list, I have a new one now uploaded in the newsletter section.  I am getting very close and am preparing, in faith, to be leaving in January.  It is finally happening!  I can hardly believe it but I am excited.  Something I’m not excited about?  Missing out on my niece and two nephews growing over the next two years…

Is this reality? September 10, 2008

To say that God has been working in the past few weeks would be an understatement.  He has been showing me how when something is in HIS timing, it comes together perfectly.  I am now at 82% and just need a couple hundred more in monthly pledges to meet my goal.  Wow.  In the past 3 years that I knew I’d be participating in the Spectrum program with Wycliffe, the reality of me leaving was far in the back of my mind.  I knew it would happen when it was God’s time but time makes you forget the reality of what you will be doing sometimes.  I am so excited!  I could barely sleep a few nights ago because my mind was filled with all kinds of thoughts about the next two years.  I thought I’d make up a list of some things I’m looking forward to:

  • Being used by God in an environment that is not my comfort zone
  • Showing sea-sickness who is boss
  • Looking up at the stars while in the middle of the ocean with no lights to compete with them
  • Meeting and serving with people from all over the world
  • Traveling to different countries and cultures
  • Cutting my wardrobe down to what will fit on the ship (I’m more looking forward to seeing HOW I can actually do this!)
  • Meeting my sponsored child in the Philippines
  • Helping with the huge task of Bible translation for languages in Asia
  • Riding a tuk-tuk
  • Learning from God and obeying by following into the unknown

I can hardly believe it is finally happening.  Excited just doesn’t seem like it’s expressive enough to explain just how much I’m anticipating leaving in January.  I still need some more monthly pledges however, so please keep that in your prayers.  And if you’ve been putting off getting involved until later, now is the time! You could be the person to push me over the edge and send me to the mission field! Hoo-rah!
