So the Wycliffe banquets are done and were so much fun!  I met lots of people who are excited about Bible translation.  It was a busy week and I was tired but I still had a great time.

On Monday night I had a chance to stay with a couple who were Wycliffe missionaries for about 35 years.  They lived in Puerto Rico, Peru, Kenya, Uganda, Sudan, and Ethopia.  Wow.  I had such a great time talking to them about their experiences and looking through their photos.  They also had some amazing art pieces in their home that they collected from all the different countries.  They were such an encouragement to me.

I also had some connections with the Philippines.  A couple at the first banquet in Charlottesville had a daughter who lived in the Philippines for 35 years.  They gave me her contact info so I can get more info about the country.  I also ran across a girl at the Lynchburg banquet who was born in the Philippines.  She offered to teach me some Tagalog and also cook me some Filipino food.  I’m looking forward to all of that!

On a non-ministry note…I am so out of shape.  I went hiking this weekend and everyday a different part of my body has been sore.  It’s a good sore though because it means that I’m working those old muscles out!  Still, would someone give me a gym membership.  Boy do I need it!

I will be traveling to Pennsylvania to share with a church during the first weekend of May.  Please keep that in your prayers.

One more thing…my nephew is, Jadd, is going to be induced early Friday morning! Please pray for safe delivery and for my sis-in-law Angie as well!

Wycliffe Banquets April 3, 2008

Filed under: Journey...not the band — Rachel @ 1:52 pm

I wanted to update you guys on what has been happening lately as well as share a prayer request.  I am continuing in the fight of raising support but God has really been blessing with opportunities for me to share.  I mentioned that I was going to speak at Wycliffe banquets.  The number has decreased to 5, but I am still very excited! The banquets start this Sunday…in just a few days.  There is one Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.  Please be in prayer for those that God will bless and give people the desire to join my team.

I am also traveling to South Carolina for a reunion of a singing group at my college this weekend.  I will be taking brochures and am not above talking to people there as well :)

In the first weekend in May, I will be making the trek to Pennsylvania to speak at a church that a friend of mine attends.

There are also a couple other things in the works.  Please continue supporting me through prayer.  You have no idea how much it means to me!
